2022 Experience

ABOUT

For the Coachella 2022 app module—originally developed for the 2020 festival but delayed due to the pandemic—the goal was to create an innovative experience that not only helped attendees navigate the festival but also enhanced their concert experience with visually stunning AR moments. We developed an AR wayfinding feature that allowed users to easily locate stages, social lenses, food, and other points of interest throughout the festival grounds. Additionally, we brought the iconic Spectra tower to life with a 3D butterfly AR experience that soared above the structure, creating a memorable visual moment for attendees. An additional AR experience was introduced in the 2022 module, though I did not contribute to that feature.

2023 EXPERIENCE

Created in partnership with Goldenvoice and Niantic, Inc., the Coachella 2023 App Module  invited at-home and onsite festival fans to interact with The Mirage-the energizing new dimensions of Coachella. By tapping on the screen, pointed at either the ground or a wall, the app generated other-worldly flowers accompanied by iridescent grass, small Chiaozza Garden objects (scaled-down versions of structures designed by Adam Frezza & Terri Chiao), and miniature versions of the butterfly featured in the 2022 app module. Each flower that bloomed was unique in design, and the Chiaozza Garden objects and butterflies appeared at random, ensuring no two experiences were alike. The experience also featured prismatic lighting effects, chromatic aberration, and camera distortion to amplify the visuals and energy of The Mirage, immersing users in its dynamic atmosphere.
